SqwidNet strikes a new connectivity deal for security and tracking use case, harnessing the power of the Sigfox 0G network and confirming the strong leadership of SqwidNet in the IoT space in South Africa.
In just a few years, SqwidNet has blanketed South Africa with the Sigfox 0G, covering more than 90% of the country’s population. 0G has been designed to improve decision-making through the remote visibility of assets, achieved by retrofitting low power sensors to them. There is no way to get something simpler, cheaper and more reliable when it comes to sending a few bytes of information.
In the security space, SqwidNet has demonstrated several times the relevance of 0G by signing significant deals with prominent companies, such as Altech Netstar, Discovery Insure and Fidelity ADT. This new signing is another cornerstone in that prospective. The deal provides this customer the ability to monitor and geolocate high-value assets and assets-in-transit, from factories and warehouses to dealerships and smaller premises.
SqwidNet has succeeded in making 0G a strong value proposition by offering a low-cost IoT connectivity option that is business-grade. Today, SqwidNet processes around 40 million messages a month, and this number is growing. The company has been educating industry, startups and students to understand how to create new opportunities based on the Sigfox 0G network. They have created, in South Africa, a solid ecosystem that is critical in successfully driving innovation through IoT into local companies.
“SqwidNet is honored in the faith that South African companies have shown in us and proud of the value they derive from 0G. We wake up every day to ensure that we live up to our promise: Providing a nationwide business-grade IoT network you can trust with your assets.” says Phathizwe Malinga, Managing Director at SqwidNet.
“SqwidNet has successfully nurtured a dynamic and collaborative ecosystem of partners in South Africa, making relevant, scalable and competitive IoT solutions available in the country” adds Nicolas Andrieu, Vice President MEA at Sigfox. “By achieving this, SqwidNet has become one the most successful 0G operator worldwide. Leveraging on this last win in the security segment, SqwidNet is well positioned to play an active role for the international expansion of those solutions“.
